Large glass panes now fill whole walls instead of windows. Do they count as windows, since the window pada chart cannot be applied to them?
With UPVC systems whole sections can open, so at least open the part that has an opening system, wherever possible. Following the allowed span, the East from E1 to E7 can be opened fully, at least five padas of the North, three padas of the South and three or four padas of the West.

In a flat no window has been made at the door. What can be done?
No problem. As taught in interior vastu, make one symbolically, and if that is not possible, make a figure (picture) of it.
On which padas can windows and ventilators be made?
In the North anywhere from N1 to N5; from N8 across the East up to E7, but not at E8; in the South on S3, S4 and S5; and in the West on W3, W4 and W5. These are the green-marked padas of the window chart.
Should windows and ventilators be on the same padas?
Yes. Both follow the same allowed padas: N1 to N5, from N8 across the East up to E7, S3 to S5 and W3 to W5.
Apart from gridding the house, should the kitchen be gridded separately?
Yes. Interior vastu means zoning each room separately with its own grid and then designing its interior accordingly.
Does everything taught today also apply to an apartment or flat, or only to a kothi?
Everything taught today applies to flats as well, except bhoomi vibhajan. In a flat it is already done: the space left around the building during construction is its Pishach bhoomi. Ati marma, zoning and directions all apply inside the flat.
How do we choose a direction when no planet in the chart is exalted and several planets sit in one direction?
First choose the direction of exalted planets. If none are exalted, go towards the direction where the benefic planets sit: Venus, Mercury, Moon and Jupiter are benefic, while Rahu, Ketu, Saturn, Sun and Mars are malefic. Then use the interior items, seed mantras, artifacts, statues, trees, colours and symbols, to strengthen the planets that are not exalted.
