After strong negative entities (bhoot-pret) are removed from a place, it is sealed with a protective grid of solid mercury keels (nails) in the four directions and four corners, so the removed energy cannot return. In severe cases 12 or 16 points are sealed and mercury pyramids and mercury swastiks are added.

When money or work due from someone is not coming, yellow mustard is thrown in the direction where that person lives while holding the wish; the person is drawn back to you.
When a person with a debilitated Shani (Saturn) builds, small pieces of shami wood are placed in all four corners first and the iron (steel) is laid on top of them.

The swastik represents and balances all five elements, removes vastu doshas and suppresses the troubles of the nine planets; a special vastu swastik design can extend any cut or narrow zone, such as a cut South-West.
Modern practice measures from North at 0 degrees: East at 90, South at 180, West at 270 and North again at 360. Halving gives the corner directions at 45, 135, 225 and 315 degrees, and halving again gives sub-directions such as North-North-East at 22.5 degrees.
After demolition or the removal of a defect, a short Vastu pooja is done even when a full one is not possible: offer 45 small pieces of gud to the 45 devtas, or at least invoke the nine lords of the directions and the centre with the words Bho [name] Vastu Dev Vastu Shanti Kuru Kuru.
Each direction of the house, and the centre for Brahma
The map-compass app shared in class shows a satellite map with two red axis lines. After locating the building and rotating the lines parallel to its walls, the degree shown at the top is the building's degree.
Google Earth on a laptop or PC gives the most accurate degree: open the client's location, confirm the building, draw a straight ruler line along one wall and read its heading. That heading shows how far the building is turned from North.
When nothing is built on or around a plot yet, ask the engineer to draw the surrounding roads on the plan, straighten the road in the map and take the road's degree. Alternatively, take the degree of a parallel neighbouring building, ask the engineer which line the house will follow, or visit the site.
Engineers planning colonies, factories and large sites often draw the plan already turned to true North, so the plot looks tilted on paper while North is exactly at the top. Check it against Google Earth; if it matches with North up, zone it at zero degrees without rotating the chakra.
On a paper map, draw a straight line from the centre toward the side that was measured and write the reading on it. A Shakti chakra with printed degrees is laid so that the measured degree sits on that line, and North then falls into place; with a plain protractor, North is marked by counting the degrees back.
A magnetic compass with a straight side edge, set so that its North-South line, mirror line and axis line coincide, is placed parallel to a straight wall on a level, metal-free surface and read from directly above. The offset of the red needle from the compass North gives the tilt of the building.
Beside any straight wall of the building, never at the centre
When a plan arrives rotated on the paper or PDF, first turn the paper or PDF until one straight side of the plan is truly straight, even if the paper then sits tilted. Take that wall's degree, complete the whole zoning in that position, and only then turn the page back.
In an irregular plot, ignore the slanting side and take the degree of any side that runs straight in the map, parallel to the edge of the paper. The tilt found from that side is then applied to zone the whole plot.
Every reading is compared with the nearest cardinal direction: North 0 or 360, East 90, South 180, West 270. The difference is the tilt, stated as North tilted so many degrees toward East (to the right) or toward West (to the left).
In AutoCAD, draw a closed polyline around the plan to get its geometric centre, place the chakra image there, align its North with the plan and rotate it by the measured tilt.
Find the centre, draw a reference line, set off the measured tilt to get exact North, then mark 22.5-degree zones starting 11.25 degrees on either side of North, using the Geo Vastu chakra or an ordinary protractor.
Once north is marked, a map of any shape is divided into 16 zones of 22.5 degrees by starting 11.25 degrees on either side of the north line. It takes about two minutes on regular and irregular maps alike.
For 32 zoning each pad is 11.25 degrees, with N5 centred on the exact north (0 degrees). Start 5.62 degrees on either side of north and mark every 11.25 degrees, or mark the black lines of the zoning chakra.
The tilt of a house is read on Google Earth with the ruler tool and then transferred to the paper map as a north line drawn from the centre. On an irregular plot that line is drawn parallel to the wall whose degree was taken.
After the bhoomi rings are drawn, the outer ring is cut into 32 pads of 11.25 degrees each, starting with Som devta centred on North, and the middle ring into 12 inner pads with an 18-54-18 degree split for each direction.
Bhog samagri is offered devta by devta, always starting with Indra (E4) and moving through Agni, Yama, Nairiti, Varun, Vayu, Kuber and Ishan through all 45, then to the 4 guardian devtas who protect them on the four sides.
Place a protractor on the house plan aligned to North, adjusting for any tilt, and mark the 4 directions, the 4 sub-directions at 45 degrees and 8 further sub-directions at 22.5 degrees. For a house use the 81-pad layout, in which the 32 outer devtas each cover 11.25 degrees and N5, E5, S5 and W5 fall exactly on the cardinal points.
When a plot's North-South axis is short, the magnetic field is increased by planning every room long in the North-South direction or, failing that, by placing heavy magnets and hematite mineral on the North-South axis.
Both ends, North and South, of the North-South axis of the plot or building
Quartz balls capture and generate energy and raise the energy of a zone; each direction takes its own colour, and a ball should be at least 3 inches in diameter.
A painting of Om forms placed on the eight petals of a lotus (four directions and four vidishas), with the ancient Om at the top; it distributes the energy of Om in all eight directions.
The nandyavart swastik raises the geopathic (earth) energy of land more than anything else; a silver nandyavart (copper if the budget is low) is placed inside the walls of all 16 zones or 32 padas except the toilet, usually at bhoomi poojan.

Opposite zones are linked along the diagonal: whenever a house has a defect in the North-East, the South-West, its diagonal opposite, will carry a defect as well.
A consultant prepares before visiting a factory or house: obtain the map and current location, find the degrees, draw the zone lines (joining) and divide the pads. Only then visit, feel the energy and interpret.
When you speak of the North and South poles, do you mean the directions, and which length should be longer?
Yes, they are the directions. The length of a place in the North-South direction should be longer than its East-West length; such a place is considered the best because it holds the strongest magnetic field.
Ten, not four: the four main directions, the four corner directions (vidisha), and the upward (urdhva) and downward (adho) directions. Each has its own dikpal, and energy reaches the rest from above and below.
In a house visited earlier an elephant was painted in the Ishaan, yet the elephant is said to be the vehicle of the East. Where does it belong?
The elephant is the vehicle of Indra, lord of the East. Between the East and the North-East lies a 45-degree span with several pads, among them a debt door and a door that makes one rich, and every 11.25 degrees the chemistry and circumstances change, so the exact pad matters.
Why is the North called the direction of wealth and of Kuber?
Because among the four Vedas the North represents the Atharvaveda, linked with artha (wealth), and its lord is Kuber, the controller of wealth, career and opportunity.
What should students get for learning to find directions and degrees?
Buy a liquid-filled compass from a stationery shop or online; it makes it easy to set zero degree and read degrees. Also download Google Earth on a laptop or computer and install a compass app on the mobile, which works only on Android phones, not on iPhones. Geo Vastu does not sell a compass of its own.
At what time does the West direction show its greatest energy?
After sunset. Its power is felt from sandhya kaal onward and increases as the night advances, which is why people do sadhana at night and worship Lakshmi at night for wealth.
By convention the whole world measures tilt from North, saying whether it turns toward East or West, and the compass itself points to North. You could count it from East if you prefer.
Tilt means tedha or tirchha: how far the true North is turned from where it is assumed to be. People who do not know vastu simply say their house is North facing, but a careful degree reading may show that it is turned, say, 5 degrees.
Compare it with the nearest cardinal direction. South is at 180, so 216 minus 180 gives 36 degrees: the South has moved 36 degrees to the left. Do not measure it from West (270), which would give 54 degrees and shift the whole zoning.
Why does the degree I take at the centre differ from the degree in a room?
Because the degree must never be taken from the centre. A compass placed at the centre only shows roughly whether a room is in the North-East or North-West; the exact tilt comes only when the compass is parallel to a wall. In a regular house, readings taken parallel to the walls are the same everywhere.
Simply line it up. The dial has a North-South line and an East-West line; turn it until one of them lies exactly straight with the mirror line and the axis line. The more precisely it is straight, the more accurate the reading; a crooked setting can read 20 or 30 degrees for the same house.
Do we need to know the facing of the house to take its degree?
No. The facing is the side of the main door, opening or road, and using it is only one easy way to read the degree. What matters is to find where North lies; once one direction is known, the rest follow at 90 degree steps.
