Natural four-axis crystallised hexagonal quartz spread under the flooring energises a room or plot and nullifies the defect of a room built in an unsuitable zone.

When a washing machine stands in the wrong place, a wooden platform made to a particular aay size and placed under it generates the element needed there.

Where the air element is disturbed, for example in a rented flat that causes gastric trouble, use green colour in the North-West, put up a flag (dhwaj) there, preferably a five-element flag, and open the North-West with a window.
When two flats are merged and the toilet falls at the new centre, do kilan separately for each flat: four copper nails at the corners of one flat and four at the corners of the other, so that the energy current moves along each set of nails and the two flats work as separate units.
When a two-shutter main door is not possible, correct the single-shutter dosh with a painting, door power, door decoration or a door bandhan hung outside.
As taught in class, a convex mirror makes a small space look bigger and extends it, while a concave mirror makes a big space look smaller; so a convex mirror treats a cut and a concave mirror treats an extension. A plain mirror can also extend a cut.

The acharyas advise placing diamond in the ground of the South-East to increase its power. Where the floor is already built, as in a flat, a swastik drawn with inexpensive diamond chip powder in the South-East serves the same purpose.
The nandyavart swastik raises the geopathic (earth) energy of land more than anything else; a silver nandyavart (copper if the budget is low) is placed inside the walls of all 16 zones or 32 padas except the toilet, usually at bhoomi poojan.

Where no pit can be dug, such as a flat on the 27th floor, a round earthen vessel filled with water shows the flat's energy by the direction in which the water moves and how clean it stays.
Fragrant dhoop is burnt on the land or in the flat, alone or during havan: the more its fragrance grows, the better the place, while a foul smell or no fragrance at all marks a bad land.
A flag with flowers tied inside is hoisted on the East side of a land, flat or industrial plot in an auspicious muhurta or in Chandra swar and then released; the direction in which it flies reveals the land's quality.
Four ghee diyas are lit in the four corners of a flat: if all four burn until the ghee is used up, the flat is excellent, and the more of them that go out, the weaker the flat.
The custom of boiling milk in a new home is a nimitta test: milk that boils over silently is auspicious, while crackling or popping sounds show that some ritual remained incomplete or a defect remains in the construction.
Your pulse is measured before and after reaching a flat or land: if it stays in the normal range the place is very good, and if it is disturbed or the heartbeat rises the place is not good. The nadi active at that moment also shows whether the land is sattvic or rajasic.
In a flat, wheat is grown in an earthen pot of good fertile soil, the way javare are grown in Navratri; the height and colour the shoots reach in nine days show how fertile and energetic the place is.
A ghee diya with white, red and yellow wicks pointing to the four directions is lit on a water-filled earthen ghat in the North-East, over a mantra written in kesar; a wick that goes out before the ghee ends points to the direction holding a defect.
An earthen kalash full of water, topped with a coconut and five mango leaves, is set on a heap of wheat in the North-East of a built home; the colour, shine and growth of the javare that sprout from the wheat show the energy of the home.
A built-in scanner: in Surya swar the arms are spread wide and the palms brought slowly together; the distance at which a tingling current stops them shows the energy of the land or flat.
A swastik drawn with kesar on a whitewashed surface stays bright for 24 to 48 hours where the energy is good; if it fades or vanishes, the energy is disturbed or an outside negative influence (bahari hawa) is present.
Main door or any whitewashed wall; kitchen tiles can also be used
On the 10th to 25th floors the air moves with high intensity, so energy generated in a flat moves away quickly and the rules for ground-level buildings do not apply. Even a wrongly placed toilet in a high flat often causes no trouble.
A building to the North that is only a little taller than yours does no harm, but one more than about four to five feet taller causes trouble. A taller building or a raised hill has no effect if it stands at a distance of at least double your building's height.
In small homes of 700 to 800 sq ft, plots of 70 to 80 gaj and flats under 1000 sq ft, direction and element rules are not applied; instead the sizes of rooms, beds, tables and kitchen platforms are set by aay (mathematical Vastu) to generate the needed element.

A circular plot is bad for homes and business but the best for temples and auspicious for a parliament. A pentagonal plot should never be bought, while a hexagonal plot with equal sides is never bad and suits temples, certain businesses and schools.
Living above a bank is acceptable, but a flat whose toilet lies directly above the bank's safe or locker room, where the money is kept, ruins its residents financially.

A tall building close to the North or East of a plot blocks its energy: in the North it causes money problems and in the East loss of name and fame. A tall building on the back side, in the South, South-West or West, gives strong progress.
North and East of the plot (harmful); South, South-West and West (helpful)
Nothing valuable or sacred should sit on the pishach bhoomi: never a tijori, court case or other important papers, a child's study table, a bed set directly against the wall, or a deity and home temple. Leaving even a 2 to 3 inch gap from the wall keeps an item off the pishach band.
The band along the walls of every zone, including the North-East
A building receives two energies: geopathic energy rising from the earth, which is the main support and stays the same on every floor, and cosmic energy from the air, which can differ from floor to floor with orientation. So the ground floor and basement energy is checked first.
Stairs carry geopathic currents from below up through the building; stairs that turn clockwise increase the current, while stairs that turn anti-clockwise cause loss.
In flats and dense areas, a door facing the main door, a lift right in front, stairs going down in front, or the corner of another building pointing at the door all create dwar vedh.
In a new flat handed over by the builder the toilet seat is already fitted but is not level. How can it be corrected?
Get the seat removed and refitted perfectly level, because health matters more than the cost. Many people found with kidney, heart and cancer problems, and especially stomach problems, had toilet seats that were not at water level. The main door too must be in plumb, leaning neither in nor out, and level where it stands.
In some apartments the main door is level but is built askew in the wall section. Is that acceptable?
No, such a door is not considered right, and the occupants usually face sudden obstacles in work or sudden health issues. Get the door made straight; treatments for cases where that cannot be done are taught later.
If a much taller building is built only 10 to 12 feet in front of a third-floor flat, how does it affect the flat?
If a proper distance is maintained there is no problem, but a building many times taller standing close in front, within roughly 25 to 50 feet, has a bad effect. This is why the lowest floors of a building are the cheapest and the upper floors the costliest. Remedies for this are taught later.
In Mumbai many buildings have a longer East-West axis. How is that energy balanced?
It can be balanced with methods taught later. A good immediate remedy is to place the deity in the exact West of the home so that it faces East; when the deity looks to the East, the direction corrects itself.
Of all the land energy testing methods, which one is the best?
All the methods are good, but no method in the world is greater than swar. Many methods cannot be used in a flat, while swar can check a flat, a land or anything else. Learn swar well, practise it and do nadi shodhan; then you may not even need to visit the plot, because someone standing there can phone you and you can tell from where you are.
People boil milk when entering a new flat; is there a science behind it?
Yes, it is nimitta gyan and not merely a custom of letting milk boil over for luck. If the milk heats fully and boils over without any sound, it is auspicious, a sign that the offering has been accepted. If it crackles or pops like ghee on heat, some ritual was left incomplete or some defect remains in the construction or the griha pravesh. The colour of the flame where milk or ghee falls, red, yellow or black, is also read.
In a house of three or four floors, should every floor be tested, or can it be checked while living there?
There are two energies: geopathic energy from within the earth, which gives growth, and cosmic energy from the air, which supports it. The ground energy reaches every floor, as a building rests on its foundation, so check the ground floor and basement energy first; the cosmic energy can differ from floor to floor with orientation, as was found in a 17-floor building. Basement energy matters most, just as fertiliser and water go into the soil, not onto the leaves.
Exactly as for any plot; flats, industries and every other building follow the same method. Finding the centre of a flat can be hard, so use AutoCAD or the paper method for irregular shapes. Only a temple differs, because it uses the 64 pad grid, where North falls between N4 and N5.
The air element of my rented flat is disturbed and I have severe gastric problems. What can I do?
Use green colour and a flag-like pattern: put up a flag (dhwaj) in the North-West and, if possible, open the North-West with a window; this brings at least some balance. Swar vigyan can do still more without expense or demolition.
Two flats were merged 10 to 12 years ago, the toilet and bath now fall at the centre, and the head of the family has stomach problems. Can the house be given two centres?
Either remove the toilet, which is rarely practical, or keep the two flats separate through kilan: four copper nails at the corners of one flat and four at the corners of the other. At griha pravesh a raksha sutra is tied around the house and nails are fixed at the four corners so that the current moves along them, and kilan divides the current the same way. Even on the third floor, simply drill and fix 1.5-inch copper nails.
Is it a dosh if the lift is to the side of my flat door rather than directly in front?
No. A lift creates dwar vedh only when it is exactly in front of the main door, where it obstructs luck and delays work. Its remedies are taught with the other remedies.
