A house has its entry in the Agni kon (South-East), an underground water tank in the South-East with the stairs over it, and the slope running to the South. The family fights constantly. What is the remedy?
Either leave the house or treat it: close the South-East underground water tank immediately and correct the slope. The staircase can stay. An overhead tank in the South-East is acceptable.
Is the entry of a basement counted where the stairs reach below or at the top?
The entrance is counted where the door begins, so the basement entry is counted from the top.
Can a septic tank be placed under the stairs?
No, a septic tank does not work under the stairs.
Can an overhead tank be built over the staircase?
Only if the stairs are in the North-West; otherwise not. Basically an overhead tank should not be built over the stairs, because hydro currents move as you walk below it and the mind becomes unsettled.
Is a staircase going downward in front of the main door a dwar vedh?
Yes, stairs right in front of the main door are wrong even when they go downward.
In a flat, if the stairs are in the anti-clockwise direction of the house, is it a vedh?
It is a dosh, not a vedh. Stairs carry the geopathic currents from below up the building; a current moving clockwise grows while one moving anti-clockwise is lost, just as spinning clockwise and anti-clockwise feel very different.
Do stairs matter when marking the ati marma points?
Stairs play no role in the marking itself; the points are found from the plot and the devtas wherever the stairs are. But no staircase, no column and ideally not even a wall should stand on an ati marma. These points should be left empty.
In a flat, if part of the shape is cut by the stairs or lift, how is that part treated?
The flat is the part you actually enter and use. Once inside, your movement and work happen only in that area, so the part you cannot access, taken by the stairs, lift or the neighbouring flat, is a cut in your flat.
With the East-North-East missing and the North-East cut because of a staircase, where should a convex mirror be placed?
Put the mirror for the zone that is missing. Fixed so that it works from inside towards outside, it extends and enlarges that missing space.
Can a staircase be built in the East?
No. Nobody has the courage to stop the Sun's rays, and whatever blocks them is ruined, so no staircase or high structure in the East.
Stairs represent Mercury and Mercury lives in the North, so why should stairs not be built in the North?
Every structure represents a planet, the roof Rahu and the stairs Mercury, but a heavy staircase in the North suppresses the North and with it Mercury. Stairs in the North cause loss of career and of magnetic attraction and end opportunities, so they are not built there.
If stairs have to be built in the North out of compulsion, how should they be made?
Leave some space in the North and build the stairs of wood, since wood also represents Mercury and is light. If a cement structure is unavoidable, leave even more space. Never make them anticlockwise or spiral: anticlockwise and rounded stairs should not be built anywhere in the house.
What does the Marwari saying jiske sammukh hove naal, uske sar par hove kaal mean?
In Marwari the staircase is called naal, and the saying means that whoever has a staircase directly facing the main door has death hovering over the head, so mishaps keep happening. Marwaris decide where the naal will go even before the door when planning a house, because the stairs run the business. In one house with stairs right at the front main door, many children fell and were hurt, and there were accidents and even a suicide.
How should the number of stairs be counted, and how many should there be?
Count the risers: each time the foot rises to the next level (each tappa) is one stair. Keep the number odd, and since stairs carry three currents named Indra, Yama and Raj (like ida, pingala and sushumna, or plus, minus and neutral), count Indra, Yama, Raj in turn and make the last step fall on Raj or Indra, never on Yama, as the 8th would. Then the current reaches the upper floor positive.
Is a wooden staircase in the middle of the house leading to the basement right or wrong?
Wooden stairs can be anywhere, but no staircase should be in the Brahmasthan. Because it is wooden, it reduces the dosh by about 50%.
If the stairs are in front of the main door but about 20 feet inside, is there still a dosh?
No. When the stairs are at least twice the door's height away, for example beyond 14 feet for a 7-foot door, they are not counted as facing the door and cause no dosh even if they are in front. Create some interior feature in between as well.
Can black granite steps be used for stairs in the North-West?
Use kota stone for steps in the North-West. Granite is best avoided in general, since it develops pin holes in which negativity settles.
Are stairs that rise from the middle and go to both sides proper?
Yes, they are perfectly fine; the palaces of kings and maharajas had stairs on both sides.
Is it all right to have an electric board under the stairs?
No, an electric board under the stairs is not good. Cover it with plywood or wood.
In which direction should stairs going to the basement be built?
Basement stairs follow their own rules: they are built in the very directions where stairs to the upper floors are not built.
Is there a proper place to keep folding steel stairs (a ladder) in the house?
Yes, keep them in the South-South-West, South-West or South.
If one plot has two staircases, each giving access to a different floor, is there any dosh?
No, that is not a dosh, provided each staircase is built in the correct zone.
Is there any dosh if the house has no inside staircase, only an outside one?
Outside stairs are fine as long as their rules are followed: build nothing under stairs made outside the house, and in a South-facing house with the stairs in the South-West, never build anything under them.
Can red kota stone be used for stairs in the South-South-West?
It is better not to use red kota stone for stairs in the South-South-West. For South-South-West and South-West stairs use yellow stone or Dholpur stone, which balances that zone and multiplies its energy.
Are stairs made of mixed iron and plywood acceptable in the North?
Stairs should not be built in the North at all; if they must be, use wood. Many showrooms with wooden double-height staircases are found to do very well, because wood represents Mercury just as stairs and business do, so wooden stairs boost intelligence and keep business running.
