Principle

Dwar Vedh from a Facing Door, Lift, Downward Stairs or a Building Corner

In flats and dense areas, a door facing the main door, a lift right in front, stairs going down in front, or the corner of another building pointing at the door all create dwar vedh.

What it does

Identifies common vedh in flats and cities and their effects.

Where

Directly in front of the main door

Cautions

  • A lift to one side of the door is not a vedh; only one exactly in front is.

Explanation and notes

Door facing door, common in flats: loss of character (charitra heenta). Two doors facing each other are like two grooms seeing each other, which old custom avoided by covering the face of the groom in the procession. Lift right in front of the main door: obstructs luck and delays work. Stairs going down in front of the main door: wrong. Corner of another house pointing at the main door: mental unrest over small matters.
