Principle

Read Directions by Exact Degree Before Moving Anything

On tilted plots, directions and zones must be read in degrees with a compass. Vedic vastu never says to treat any corner as Ishaan or to accept a direction however tilted it is, and a wrong reading leads to costly and harmful changes.

What it does

To avoid wrong remedies caused by misjudged directions.

Samagri used

  • Compass

How to do it

  1. 1Take the exact degree of the facing and of each zone with a compass before giving any advice
  2. 2Decide zones and remedies from the degree reading, never by assumption

Cautions

  • Do not shift a transformer or any heavy element on a guessed direction
  • Do not accept that a plot is South facing without checking the degree; it may be South-West facing

Explanation and notes

Case: on a tilted industrial plot, a transformer that stood exactly in the West was shifted to exact North because the West was mistaken for the South-West, and a heavy stone fill was added in a corner; the industry slid towards closure. In another case a plot described on the phone as South facing turned out, once the degree was asked for, to be South-West facing, which changed the whole assessment of the planned showroom.

Principleशल्य दोष

Buried Bones (Shalya) Ruin Peace, Health and Business

A bone buried in a plot is the biggest land defect (shalya). It changes the chemistry of the surrounding soil, becomes a home for spirits and slowly destroys the peace, health and business of whoever builds there.

Methodभूमि शुद्धिकरण

Purifying Land After a Buried Bone Is Removed

The full purification done where a bone has been dug out, the land's equivalent of the rites after a death: vastu registry with five coconuts, removal of the affected soil, agni sanskar with mango wood, water, gomutra and cow-dung purification, lime and sulphur, a 24-hour lamp and mercury.

Principleशल्य

Other Shalya: Buried Furnace, Coal, Ash, Fossils and Kaudi

Besides bones, coal, ash, some animal fossils and kaudi in the ground act as shalya. A furnace (bhatti) left buried under a building ruins the family and the business, and kaudi must never be buried, although gomti chakra can be.

Principleकोणों का ढकना

Never Bury a Plot Corner Under a Heavy Mass

The corners of a plot are its biggest sources of energy, and energy flows diagonally from corner to corner through the brahmasthan like a highway. Piling or filling a huge mass over a whole corner zone creates a serious defect.
