Toilet, Drawing Room, Office, Study, Dining and Mandir Placement Across the 16 Zones
Interior Vastu class on where and how to build the toilet, drawing room, office, study room, dining area and home temple, with the result of each across all 16 zones. It explains the Vedic view of toilets through the human-body model, the toilet seat facing, interior finishes and a sea sand, alum and salt bowl remedy, and gives a brahmastra of laying crystallised hexagonal quartz under the floor to nullify a bad zone. Office and study interiors cover axis, ventilation, level furniture, solid wood, colours chosen from the horoscope, Nandi, citrine, study stones and pyramids. It closes with dining and puja rules, deity and worshipper facing, placement of appliances, medicines and photos, and a long Q&A.
Natural four-axis crystallised hexagonal quartz spread under the flooring energises a room or plot and nullifies the defect of a room built in an unsuitable zone.
Under the floor of the whole office, room or plot, especially rooms forced into zones such as SSW, WNW, SE or ESE
Turning the toilet seat so the user faces North or South, never East or West, corrects about half the dosh of a toilet even when it stands in a wrong zone.
Sitting on the toilet with the left nostril closed, the teeth pressed together and the feet raised on a small footstool clears the bowels in seconds and protects the teeth and stomach.
A bunch of natural citrine (yellow quartz) kept in a glass bowl on the table makes visitors easily attracted to and impressed by the owner and raises the aura of the office.
On the office or shop table; also at home and during online meetings
A Saraswati picture, a saffron swastik in the child's eye line and on the table, a peacock-feather swastik on the West wall and a picture of a revered guru support a child's studies.
Study room: kesar swastik at eye level and on the table, peacock-feather swastik on the West wall
Four round natural stones of about 100 to 150 g each, kept on the study table or in the room, support a child's memory, confidence, creativity and concentration.
A metal or paper pyramid placed on the head for 10 minutes when tired, and pyramids kept on top of each book studied, keep a child's energy positive and concentration high.
On the study table and on the child's books; also on every table of a library
The human body, imagined facing East, is built like the Vastu Purush Mandal, and the position of each body function shows where the matching part of a house belongs.
Whole house: doors in NE, E and N; slope to E and N; underground water tank in NE; kitchen in SE; toilet in WNW
Vedic Vastu texts assign no place to a toilet inside the house and say its wall should not even touch the house foundation; toilets were built outside, and palaces placed them at the rear in the West-North-West.
Outside the house foundation; in palaces at the rear, on the lower side, in the West-North-West, reached by a pathway not joined to the main wall
Zone-by-zone results of a toilet: SSW and WNW are workable, NW and ESE only in an emergency, and every other zone damages what that zone governs.
Workable: South-South-West (modern Vastu) and West-North-West. Emergency only: North-West (with a strong Moon) and East-South-East (septic tank). Avoid all other zones.
Four positions are forbidden for a toilet whatever the zone: the Brahmasthan, directly opposite the main door, directly opposite the kitchen and under the staircase.
Not in the Brahmasthan, not directly in front of the main door or the kitchen, not under the stairs
The drawing room is the place for exchanging ideas, so its furniture is set in a square or rectangle, the person putting forward his views faces North, the colours are light and windows give cross-ventilation.
Drawing room (swagat kaksh, the room for receiving guests)
East is the ideal drawing room zone, North suits business talks and the NE gives peace, while the SE, SSW and WNW are poor; a room energised with crystallised quartz can work almost anywhere.
Best: East. Good: North, NNE, NE, ENE, NNW, West, WSW, South (not too open). Moderate: SSE, SW, NW. Poor: ESE, SE, SSW, WNW.
An office must be full of energy, with the chairman's cabin longer on the North-South axis, the owner facing North, proper ventilation, perfectly level furniture and a floor sloping to the North-East.
Office, especially the director's or chairman's cabin
Each zone favours a particular kind of office: East for administration, North for finance, West for engineering and profit, WSW for every office, SW for employment and stability and ENE for media.
Excellent: East, West, WSW, SW, North. Moderate: SSE, NNW, NW (transport). Avoid: SE, SSW (unless energised with quartz), WNW.
The office colour is taken from the lord of the 11th house (gains) or the 10th house (work), or from the planet of the business itself, choosing the one the horoscope supports.
Business is ruled by Budh (Mercury), which wood represents, so office tables and furniture should be made of the best solid wood such as teak, without black or grey glass tops.
Office table, wardrobes and furniture; study tables
Files of bills awaiting payment face North, important files go to the West, WSW, North or NE, the cheque book to the NNE and the locker to the West or South-West.
Study room colours follow the zone, but education belongs to Jupiter, so ivory, golden yellow, green (Mercury) and white suit study, as does the colour of the 5th house lord when it is well placed.
A study room needs its door in the NE, East, North or West, cross-ventilation, a correct slope, a perfectly level study table and bookshelves on a North or East-facing wall.
West is the ideal dining zone because Varun gives coolness and taste; WSW, North, NNE, East, SSE and South also support eating, while ESE, SE, SSW and WNW disturb it.
Hang a sphatik (crystal) chandelier over the dining table, keep light colours, greenery and flowers, a good table and chairs, and a picture of God in the dining room.
Each zone suits a particular worship: North for Saraswati and Ganesh, NNE for pranic sadhana, NE and East for meditation, South for Hanuman and Devi, West best of all, while SE, SSE and SSW suit no puja.
Best: West. By deity: North, NNE, NE, East, South, SW (ancestors), WSW, WNW, NW, NNW. No puja: SE, SSE, SSW.
The deity faces East first and North second, never South; the worshipper faces North for wealth, East for spiritual progress and South or West for tantra, and before a consecrated idol all directions become zero.
Photos of departed ancestors go in the South-West, but never inside a bedroom; family photos of the living go anywhere except the South and SSW zones, on a wall where their faces look North.
Ancestors: South-West, outside the bedroom. Family photos: South wall, not in the South or SSW zones
Appliances that run on electricity represent the fire element, so the washing machine, inverter, electric meter, AC and cooler go in the SE, ESE, SSE or NW, while the TV goes where viewers face North.
Fire and disposal zones of the house or of each room
Medicines kept in the NNE are charged by the healing rays of that zone; the North, NE, ENE and West also work, but never a cupboard or drawer that faces South.
NNE (best), North, NE, ENE or West
Questions asked in this session
What is sea sand in the toilet bowl remedy, and what if it is not available?
It is sand from the sea (samudra), which has special qualities. If it is not available, use ordinary river sand. When you travel to the coast in the South, bring back 2 to 5 kg of sea sand.
Should toilet tiles follow the colour of the zone?
They can follow the zone colour, but white or grey cause no problem in a toilet in any zone, because the toilet is represented by Shani and Rahu and here the planet is given more importance than the zone.
Did royal palaces have toilets, and where were they placed?
Yes. Toilets were built at the rear of palaces, on the lower side, reached by pathways that did not join the main wall, and they were placed in the West-North-West. Kings never built attached toilets beside every room, even though they had every resource.
Does a toilet in the North-East always cause cancer?
No, that claim is not fully true. Cancer has many factors, and many hotels and homes have NE toilets whose owners never got cancer. A NE toilet does disturb the positive energy of that zone and brings illness, so cancer is possible, but not certain.
Why is a drawing room in the South-East considered bad?
The SE suits the kitchen, where fire is needed just as a roti needs fire to cook. In a drawing room we do not want heat or aggravated pitta while putting our views across; in the SE pitta and heat rise, bringing anger, irritation and an aggressive tone, so it is advised against.
Should a heavy sofa be kept in the North of the drawing room?
No. As the human-body model shows, the North must stay light so that the magnetic current can flow out from the North to the South; making it heavy weakens this magnetic flow.
Can a person whose Sun is debilitated (neech) have the drawing room in the East?
Yes, with remedies; he will not leave the East unused or build a toilet there. A drawing room is not a permanent seat. Only permanent seating, such as an 8-hour business seat, should not be chosen in the zone of a debilitated planet.
Can crystallised quartz be used in a house or flat, and how much is needed?
Yes. In a house or flat, put it in the flooring, or in the soil filling when the floor is made. Use about 10 kg per 1000 sq ft for a normal area; to nullify a zone, double it or more, for example 2, 5 or even 10 kg for a 100 sq ft room that must be built in the wrong zone.
Only crystallised quartz in hexagonal, four-axis form gives full results. Ordinary quartz gives only 10 to 20 percent results, though never a negative one: sand also contains quartz of the same chemistry, but in amorphous form, just as buttermilk and ghee both come from milk but differ greatly in value.
Decide by zone and by the horoscope: look at the lords of the 10th house (karmesh), the 9th (bhagya), the 2nd (dhanesh) and the 11th (labhesh), and use the planet that will draw in money.
An office needs ventilation, so a basement does not suit proper work. Only businesses of an adharmic nature, such as some salons and facial parlours, run well in basements; they do not need pure energy like the Sun's.
The West and North can work, but the best is the South-West, the zone of Rahu: trading is Rahu's work, Rahu is glamour and makes one rich, and people with an exalted Rahu find that whatever share they buy rises. In one case the teacher checked the swar before a student bought a share, and it rose sharply within 15 days.
The texts define a vastuvid as one who is pure in thought, does good deeds, is virtuous and loves justice. So the office suits the zones that give justice: the West (Shani), the North-East and the East (the Sun). All three are correct.
Raw shape also works; no particular form is needed. A statue carved from the stone, such as a Saraswati in citrine, lapis lazuli or any quartz, works double.
If the study table is in the West, can a red stone like jasper be kept on it?
Yes. A colour counts as an anti-element only when the whole room is done in it; an item of about 10 percent of the volume causes no dosh. Children do not stop using red or blue books, and women in red bangles or sarees still go into the North.
Should a pyramid be kept only on the ground, and how should it be placed on a table?
It can be kept on a table too. Wherever a pyramid is installed it must sit at zero degrees, perfectly level, and be aligned along the North-South axis, correcting for any tilt; people who get no results usually do not know how to install it.
How can a puja room in the South-East be corrected?
If it holds a consecrated (pratishthit) idol, the idol should be moved. If the idol is not consecrated, there is no need to worry, as these rules apply to consecrated idols.
Do paintings or decorative idols of God also need correct placement?
Yes, they also represent a planet and should be placed correctly. A consecrated God's photo should face North or East, or West if that is not possible, but never South; South-facing is for the photos of ancestors who have left this world.
If the mandir on the study table faces East, we would face West. Is that right?
Sit before it so that your own face is towards the North. When you face a consecrated idol all directions become zero; direction is small and the Lord is great.
During Diwali puja the deity faces South and we face North. Is that right?
No, it is wrong. Seat the deity in the West facing East, and sit so that you look at the deity while your face is towards the North. The Lord's direction is what matters, just as the teacher's direction matters in a classroom.
Should the deity's clothes follow the colour of the zone?
No, do not become obsessive about it. A small red cloth in the Ishaan does not put fire there; the effect comes only when the whole zone is made red. Nobody skips puja because they are wearing red clothes.
Will an AC or cooler in the South-East cool down its fire element?
No. An AC or cooler is cooled by electricity, not by ice; when the power goes it stops. It runs on electricity and so represents the fire element, which suits the SE. Place coolers in the same zones as ACs.
A washing machine uses water, so why can it go in the South-East?
What runs it is electricity, which represents fire; the kitchen in the SE also has water. So a washing machine can go in the SE, ESE, SSE and also the North-West.
Anywhere except the South and SSW zones, on a wall where everyone's face looks North, that is, on the South wall. The living face the direction of life; only the departed are made to face Yama in the South.
If the office flooring is already done, how can quartz be used?
Do not break anything. Fill a glass bowl with plenty of quartz, add water and leave it for the whole day; next day mop the office with that water. The office gets energised and the energy flow increases. A bowl of quartz can also be kept on the table.
No. Einstein is said to have wished at the end of his life to be born in India to research its sacred soil, the land of the Tirthankaras, Ram, Mahavir and Hanuman. Indians need not keep meat-eating foreign deities such as the Laughing Buddha or the Chinese Fuk Luk Sau; keep portraits or statues of Ram, Hanuman or Mahavir instead, and do not let them be dwarfed by such figures.
