Sun rays give fruits their sweetness: guavas lose their taste in the rains, while the mango, which takes the most heat, is the sweetest fruit. That is why fruit trees belong in an eastern garden. The friends of the Sun are the Moon, Mars and Jupiter; keeping their items beside Sun items adds power, just as a friend adds strength.

When the East is closed by a raised wall or a heavy structure, items that capture the Sun energy are placed in the East so that the Sun still rises in the home.

Giloy, an ayurvedic creeper, grown in the East lets the morning sunrays pass through it into the rooms, which improves the immunity of the residents even if they do not consume it.
