Remedies, methods and rules

Principle

Leave the Pishach Bhoomi Open on All Sides and Build in the South and West Part

The outer pishach bhoomi of a plot is always left open on all sides, and on a North-facing plot the building is placed in the South and West part, leaving open space for energy to enter.

Building in the South and West part of a North-facing plot; open land on all sides

Principleसर्वतोभद्र द्वार

Sarvatobhadra Dwar: Four Doors on N4, E4, S4 and W4

A house with doors open on all four number-four pads, N4, E4, S4 and W4, is a sarvatobhadra house; no vastu dosh affects it, whatever defects lie inside.

Doors on N4 (Bhallat), E4, S4 (Grihakshat) and W4 (Pushpdant)

Principle

Mapping Devtas on the Whole Plot: Open Land Around the House Pleases Devtas

When only part of a plot is built and land is left open around it, the 45 devtas are allocated on the whole plot from its centre. The open land becomes a large pishach bhoomi where the 32 outer devtas spread out happily, and the inner devtas get cross ventilation from all sides.

Whole plot, including open land and gardens

Questions and answers

Does the centre taken from the boundary wall also decide where on the plot to construct?

Where to construct is taught later; for example, on a North-facing plot the building is placed in the South and West part. The pishach bhoomi is always left open on all sides. People abroad leave space all around and keep large backyards and live prosperously, while many people here leave no space at all for energy to come in.

Many malls have parking in the basement. Is that right?

Yes. Work that needs no sun rays, such as vehicle parking, suits a basement, and bars and discos also run there. In Europe the heating system is placed in the basement, because vastu depends on local geography and climate; Indian principles do not apply as they are abroad, and foreign vastu is taught separately.

When the house stands at the back of the plot with a garden in front, which centre is used to map the devtas?

Take the centre of the whole plot and map the devtas on it; all the open land around the house, even outside the building, becomes space for the devtas. This is why big houses abroad, as in America, are so balanced: about 4,000 sq ft is built on about 40,000 sq ft of land, so the 32 outer devtas get a huge, open pishach bhoomi and the manushya and dev bhoomi get cross ventilation from all sides. Just as a person given two acres of land enjoys the space, the devtas are pleased by big open land.

Should a bamboo plant be grown?

It is not recommended. Feng shui promoted it heavily, but bamboo is not an auspicious tree; its wood is what carries the dead. Feng shui also had the swastik printed on doormats, so that a symbol equal to God gets trampled by footwear.

Houses abroad have back doors opening into the garden that do not lead to the road; do these bad entries need treatment?

Such a door is not counted as an entry; it is a prishth bhang dwar (rear door) that lets the negative energy of the house out. Energy enters with you through the door you come in by. No treatment is needed; if it bothers you, draw the energy-blocking swastik. Symbol vastu especially suits countries outside India, where demolition is not possible.

Mango leaves are not available abroad; what is the alternative to a mango leaf toran?

Draw five swastiks with your own hand, using kesar, on the main entrance; they become a permanent bandhanwar (toran).

In Dubai most flats have toilets in the Brahmasthan padas; how can this be treated?

The Brahmasthan's energy reaches every part of the house, so a toilet there affects everything. Nullify it with the mercury injection method all around, leaving the Brahma bindu itself untouched.
