Dwar Vedh Distance Rule: Obstructions Within Twice the Height

An obstruction in front of the main door counts as vedh only within twice its reference height; for a 7 ft main door, anything within 14 ft is a vedh, and beyond double the distance it is not.

What it does

Decides whether a pole, tree, pit or other object in front of the door is actually harmful.

Where

Area in front of the main door

How to do it

  1. 1Take the reference height: big obstructions such as a temple are judged by the height of the building, small ones by the height of the main door.
  2. 2Measure the distance from the main door to the obstruction.
  3. 3If the distance is up to twice the height, treat it as dwar vedh; if it is more, there is no vedh.
