Nairitya's symbols are many weapons: sword, arrow, shool and shield. He normally rides a lion, but when the South-West is imbalanced, as during a Rahu-Ketu mahadasha with very bad days, his second vehicle is a shav (corpse).
The South-West says: keep me high and I will take you to the heights and give you the power of the sun and moon. Just as the most important person is seated on the highest gaddi, Nairitya, the highest among the direction lords, takes the highest seat. Kept high, it gives heights in business and every field.
Like a planet in a horoscope casting full aspect on the seventh house, the South-West looks diagonally across 180 degrees to the North-East, so a defect here also appears there.
