The teacher builds mud walls in the NE whenever a house has many Ishan doshas. Mud-walled houses give a distinct feeling of happiness and peace. Termites are not peculiar to mud walls; see the mercury remedy.
Interior work is done to change the mind, because everything follows from the mind. Pictures, colours and objects (chitra) change the state of mind (chitt), so the goal the mind should be led to must be fixed first.
