Natural four-axis crystallised hexagonal quartz spread under the flooring energises a room or plot and nullifies the defect of a room built in an unsuitable zone.
Under the floor of the whole office, room or plot, especially rooms forced into zones such as SSW, WNW, SE or ESE
After demolition or the removal of a defect, a short Vastu pooja is done even when a full one is not possible: offer 45 small pieces of gud to the 45 devtas, or at least invoke the nine lords of the directions and the centre with the words Bho [name] Vastu Dev Vastu Shanti Kuru Kuru.
Each direction of the house, and the centre for Brahma
Vastu pooja is the prana pratishtha of a house: just as an idol is not worshipped until its prana pratishtha, a house is established only through Vastu pooja. It is due at fixed stages of construction and again whenever the house is disturbed.
Mixing a handful to about a kilo of a chosen soil into the flooring raises the energy for a purpose: cowshed, mountain or elephant-stable soil for peace, yellow soil for business, white or yellow soil for homes, and pilgrimage or river soil for temples.
A door that strengthens one element can ruin an owner whose running planetary period belongs to the opposite element. A new door that raised the fire element was opened for a sweet maker while his Moon (water) antardasha was running, and water and fire, being anti-elements, brought his business to zero.
However wrongly a staircase is placed, it should not be broken and shifted, and no wall should be broken to make a new door; doing so creates serious trouble.
During the battle with Andhakasur a drop of sweat fell to the earth and produced a being whose rampage made the earth shake. Brahma had him lie face down and promised that he would be worshipped with offerings and that not an inch of land would be built on without remembering him.
Pad vinyas divides a plot into equal squares (padas) occupied by the vastu devtas, and the number of padas depends on what is being built: 49 for reconstruction, 64 for towns and certain temples, 81 for houses and cowsheds, 100 for all temples, and up to 1000 for a fort.
Oil-based paint contains lead that is released into the air and breathed in, causing cough, cold, eye irritation and disease; water-based paint should be used instead.
PU (polyurethane) finish on furniture is even more dangerous than oil paint and can cause breathing trouble, asthma, headache, vomiting and fainting; natural wood with a traditional natural polish should be used instead.
Interior work done without vastu can ruin a business even when all directions are correct: anti-element materials and colours, the most harmful (marak) colour of the owner's kundli, or a main table placed with zero aay all cause losses. Symbols, swastiks and corrected colours can restore it.
If the North of a flat or house is polluted, for example by a toilet, should we advise removing it, and is a pooja needed afterwards?
Yes, advise removing it: the North is Kuber's place, and keeping filth at the place of wealth is like putting dirt in the mouth, so wealth cannot grow. After any demolition do a Vastu pooja; even a short one is enough, offering 45 small pieces of gud to the 45 devtas or invoking the nine lords with Bho Indra Vastu Dev Vastu Shanti Kuru Kuru and so on for each direction, with Brahma at the centre.
Is vastu poojan done only when construction starts?
No. Do it at bhoomi poojan or shilanyas, when the first slab is laid, when the main door frame is installed and on griha pravesh; the start of construction and griha pravesh are essential. Also do it after a renovation in which walls are broken, for a marriage, the start of a job or business and the birth of a child, and once a year on a swayam siddh muhurta such as Akha Teej or Gudi Padwa for a year of happiness and peace.
