Shoes bring outside energy, so the shoe rack stays near the entrance: on the NW side of a north-facing entrance and on the ESE side of an east-facing entrance. Where neither is possible, make the rack of wood and place muscovite (abhrak) under it.
Wooden shoe rack
Near the main entrance: NW side of a north-facing door, ESE side of an east-facing door
If stairs must be built in the North, leave some space from the North side and make them of wood, which also represents Mercury; a cement structure needs even more space left.
For a defective East door, hang a toran of wood and brass or of metal with gems, or a green square swastik bandhanwar made on leaves or another base, put up on a Monday.
For a main door on a wrong North pada, hang a toran of flowers or of wood and silver, or a blue swastik bandhanwar of 9, 11, 13 or 15 swastiks in a crescent shape. Mercury rules the North and is pleased by flowers.

For a main door on a wrong South pada, hang a toran of stones or gems, a toran of copper and wood, or a red triangular swastik bandhanwar put up on a Saturday or Tuesday.
Stairs stand for business, intellect and wealth, so a strong, beautifully designed staircase with wood, glass, green leaves and flowers multiplies wealth, while shaky or broken stairs sink money.
Door power means installing the dehleez, the base wood of the four-piece door frame, in a proper muhurta and swar with protective samagri placed in the ground beneath it. Done this way it removes about 50 percent of the dosh even of a wrongly placed door.
A home cannot keep all 45 devta pads empty. Wooden furniture placed on any devta's pad, even on its most vital point (ati marma), is not considered a dosh; the vedic rule is to protect the ashtamansh, the sensitive one-eighth part of the pad.
Marble is calcium carbonate (CaCO3); homes with all-marble or Italian marble floors and no wooden flooring were found with sinus and bronchitis problems and, over time, pain in the knees, legs, thighs and back.
Vedic vastu says no more than two or three kinds of wood should be used in one house, while plywood is made from 7 to 15 kinds of thorny woods glued together with adhesives.
Natural materials hold planetary energy while petroleum by-products hold none. Use fire-baked clay bricks, lime where possible, no more than two or three species of wood and black basalt road metal, and build walls in plumb with a honeycomb bond.
Use wood for stairs in NNE, ENE and East; green Kota stone, pink marble, Lakha granite or vitrified glass tiles in ESE, SE and South; yellow or Dholpur stone in SSW and SW; and white stone or vitrified tiles in the West.
Business is ruled by Budh (Mercury), which wood represents, so office tables and furniture should be made of the best solid wood such as teak, without black or grey glass tops.
Solid teak (sagwan) or other best-quality wood
Office table, wardrobes and furniture; study tables
A study room needs its door in the NE, East, North or West, cross-ventilation, a correct slope, a perfectly level study table and bookshelves on a North or East-facing wall.
There are three types of doors: the boundary wall door, the main door and room doors. The pada results apply mainly to the main door, the door through which you actually enter the home.
Boundary wall gate, main door and internal room doors
A dehleez is essential in the main door and good in every door. Make it of wood for a soft nature or of stone for firmness, keep it above the floor and mount the door on top of it.
Good quality, artistic wood, 3 inches thick, for a soft and gentle nature
Make the main door of solid wood such as teak, ideally with a little sandalwood, and carve auspicious symbols, mantras and floral designs on it. Energy takes on the chemistry of the material it passes through, so flush, ply, fibre and glass doors weaken the result.
The main door should be rectangular, its height twice its width, with a four-piece wooden chaukhat. When the 1:2 ratio cannot be kept, size it by aay (length times width divided by 8) to get a 1 or 3 aay door.
Four-piece wooden chaukhat (frame) including the dehleez
A solid wooden false ceiling without gaps is the best; a glass ceiling is acceptable if fully sealed, while fibre, steel or other metal, synthetic fabric and PVC ceilings disturb energy.
Solid wood
Ceilings; glass at the Brahmasthan or drawing room
POP (plaster of Paris with gypsum and adhesive) false ceilings leave hollow gaps that collect dust and negativity and retain moisture and bacteria, so they are best avoided.
Solid carved wood if a decorative ceiling is wanted
PU (polyurethane) finish on furniture is even more dangerous than oil paint and can cause breathing trouble, asthma, headache, vomiting and fainting; natural wood with a traditional natural polish should be used instead.
Solid wooden flooring is the best, ceramic tiles suit business, vitrified tiles are acceptable, and laminate (melamine, a petroleum by-product) should be avoided.
If furniture made by carpenters is placed on a devta's pad, does it affect the devta?
All 45 devta places cannot be left empty, or there would be nowhere to live or keep things in a house or flat. The Vedic texts say to protect the ashtamansh (one-eighth part of the pad); wooden items kept on any devta's place, even on a marma, are not counted as a dosh, because wood does not sink in water but floats. Besides, the devta's place lies beneath us, and the devta is basically a particular energy.
The entrance is between North and East and outside footwear brings outside energy. Where should the shoe rack go?
For a north-facing entrance, make the shoe rack toward the North-West; for an east-facing entrance, toward the East-South-East. If neither is possible, put muscovite (abhrak) under the rack wherever it stands and make it of wood, not metal, because bacteria run on metal, as corona showed.
What should be done if the overhead tank is directly above the bed?
Paste a thin layer of muscovite (mica) on the ceiling, or give the room a wooden ceiling. Sleeping under an overhead tank generates hydro currents that raise the risk of heart problems.
If stairs have to be built in the North out of compulsion, how should they be made?
Leave some space in the North and build the stairs of wood, since wood also represents Mercury and is light. If a cement structure is unavoidable, leave even more space. Never make them anticlockwise or spiral: anticlockwise and rounded stairs should not be built anywhere in the house.
Are stairs made of mixed iron and plywood acceptable in the North?
Stairs should not be built in the North at all; if they must be, use wood. Many showrooms with wooden double-height staircases are found to do very well, because wood represents Mercury just as stairs and business do, so wooden stairs boost intelligence and keep business running.
Cover the space with plywood and store unused things there, such as clothes and mattresses. A toilet, generator or bed should never be placed under the stairs.
My main door is in the South; how should it be treated?
In interior vastu a wrong door is treated only with symbols and similar items, since the full door treatment alone would take about five classes. For South door defects the class gives bandhanwars of stone or gems, a toran of copper and wood, and a red triangular swastik bandhanwar hung on a Saturday or Tuesday. In the South only S4 is a good pada, and it suits those with Kark, Makar or Kanya rashi, mulank 9, or an exalted or own-sign Mars.
What shape and proportion should the main door have?
It should always be rectangular, with a full chaukhat of four pieces of wood; a three-piece frame does not give the same results even on N4. Its height should be twice its width, for example 7 feet high for a 3.5-foot width, so do not run doors up to the full height of the room as some new buildings do. Where the 1:2 ratio cannot be kept, calculate the aay (length x width divided by 8; the remainder is the aay) and make a door of 1 or 3 aay. Avoid triangular doors (trouble for women), shakat doors (trouble for the family head), supa and sun-shaped doors (loss of money), bow-shaped doors (family disputes) and round doors (trouble for children, more girls born).
